The History of Snack Pack

Hunt’s brand was founded back in 1888 by William and Joseph Hunt in Sebastopol, California. Their business was the Hunt Bros. Fruit Packing Co. and they primarily focused on tomato products. It would not be until much, much later that they would introduce pudding. But in 1968 they made the leap, with their single-serve Snack Packs, which were in aluminum cans. The ads for this new product featured a horse named Snack Pack that taught kids to be careful when opening the lid so they don’t cut themselves. It wouldn’t be until 1984 that the plastic containers would come out.

Metal or Plastic, these little treats would be a very popular snack, and still are today.

Hunt’s Snack Pack Pudding was School Lunchtime Gold
