Gimme all the cornbread!

Exclusive Mini Episode Time! And today we are trying Famous Dave's Jalapeno Cornbread mix!

Until recently, I did not know how many different variations of cornbread there actually are. Growing up I only ever had the dusty brick of cornbread served up to us for school lunches. A flavorless, unappetizing yellow slab that convinced me that cornbread was something to be avoided at all cost. Fast forward to adulthood and I discovered that cornbread could actually be delicious! Well today we are trying Famous Dave’s Jalapeno Cornbread. Will it be good? Only we can be the judge of that. (And you too! Just run out to the store right now, pick up a box of the cornbread mix, some eggs, and oil. Head back home. Preheat your oven, mix up the batter, pour it into a pan, slam it in the oven, and then join us once it is baked. It is that easy!)

(And as always, let us know in the comments if there is a new food you really want us to try out. If you see something new in the stores, let us know too. I don’t always catch them all!)

A Mini History of Famous Dave’s

Famous Dave’s opened in 1994, in Hayward, Wisconsin. Known as Famous Dave’s BBQ Shack, Dave Anderson knew he had something good. He had spent more than 20 years trying BBQ from all across the United States, studying what made each place special. With that information, he perfected his BBQ skills and opened his own restaurant. The restaurant was quickly successful and in 1995 a second location opened in Minneapolis. With all the success, an executive team was formed and plans to go national were put in place. The company announced that they would open 10 locations in 1997 and 24 in 1998, making them the first national chain of barbeque restaurants. In May of 1999, the 24th location opened.

Famous Dave Anderson has won some of the most coveted BBQ awards in the nation. In fact, Dave has earned over 700 awards and has become an authority in the BBQ world.  Today there are 180 locations in 33 states, and four international locations, Winnipeg, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Dubai.
