Limited Edition Episode: Dot's Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels

Join us as we find out if this limited edition pretzel lives up to the Dot's name.

Do you prefer salty or sweet snacks? Maybe you like a mix? For example, there is nothing quite like the pairing of some salty fries with some vanilla soft serve. Specifically, I always enjoy going to Dairy Queen and getting a strawberry sundae with some French Fries. Yum.

Today we have a limited edition snack for you that you might say, “Hey! That is supposed to be a salty and savory snack!” Surprise! It’s not. What am I talking about? The Limited Edition Dot’s Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels.

History of Dot’s Pretzels

Dot’s were created by Dorothy Henke right in her kitchen.  And like many things, they were created out of a desire to do better than what was out there. She was at a wedding and there was a mix of butter spindles, rye chips, Corn Chex, Rice Chex, nuts and a sauce she didn’t care for. So she started to play around. Her creation was Dot’s Pretzels. And her friends and family were so impressed that she was constantly bombarded with requests for more. She took this as a sign and arranged the use of a commercial kitchen in her North Dakota town of Velva and made 30 pound batches. She packaged them and delivered them to gas stations and hardware stores. It wasn't long and the brand took off.

Today Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels employs 70 people across the country. Mainly in Velva North Dakota but there are also plants in Kansas and Arizona.
